Christmas 2008

When Steve and I went to California for Christmas vacation we got there in time for the Christmas play at the church. All of the girls (except Mia) were in the play and they did a really good job.

The dining room was quite festive and the tree was especially pretty. The gifts were quite numerous and took over most of the room.

Papa and the girls continued a tradition they started a number of years ago. If we're with them for Christmas they always do a gingerbread house. As the girls get older the house seems to get more and more colorful and imaginative.

All the girls were dressed for the holiday on Christmas Eve.

Even Kona had a holiday neckkerchief on.

All the kids got some really nice gifts and each seemed to be quite happy.

Even the adults were happy with their gifts.

Especially Tony who got a humidor and nice smelling cigars from Nic.

Kelly got a surprise gift from her sister and was quite confused at first. The outside of the box had been marked at moving with "Do Not Open, Keep for Kelly". Cathy thought it was a hanging lamp that had belonged to her grandmother, so she didn't bother to open the box and look. But when Kelly started unloading the box which contained candleholders and stuff the truth came out. Kelly had taken the hanging lamp to Wisconsin and used it there. So, everyone got a good laugh all around.

Mia got her first motorized vehicle from Nic and Kay and once she figured out what it was all about she was all over the place with it. Her mom decided she probably shouldn't ride it again until she got a helmet (which she did

Nic got Kay ski boots, which she opened and was kind of confused as she has no skis or snowboard. So, luckily for her, the next gift she opened was a snowboard. I hope they actually get up to the snow as they are both always so busy.
